The Feminine in European Gothic Music and Pagan Philosophy

Gothic Music There is often a cultural link between the Pagan Religions (Wicca, for instance) and the Gothic frame of reference, for better or for worse.  Participants on both sides may take issue with this linkage, however, for the general population, there is a relationship.  However, the link, assuming it is there, is one of more indirect connections than it is of direct connections.

I’d like to discuss one of these links, it’s a link I am very interested in, it’s the female fronted gothic music form, a largely European phenomena but one that has some interesting relevance to the topic.

Memorial Day weekend is the annual event of Spring Gathing of the Tribes. It takes place near Windsor, Virginia at Black Water CampGround. There are workshops all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with practioners local, national and sometimes international, coming to teach on a wide range of Pagan subjects. There will also be vendors from up and down the eastern seaboard, as well as a ritual and a massive bonfire Friday and Saturday Nights, with drumming and dancing around the bonfire. The last year I went, 2005, there were somewhere around 500 people there. I had a blast the three years that I went, so now I'm trying to see if I can get a group to go up as a Church of the Earth Group. Now I must tell you that it is a primative campground, but they do have a bath house and port-a-potties all over the place. If you have a camper ther are hookups available near the main building. You can find out more about Blackwater Campground at http://www.pagan.com/Blackwater/index.html , and Spring Gathering of the Tribes at http://www.pagan.com/SpringGathering/index.html . The list of workshop presenters will grow as we get closer to the event. So if you're interested, please check out the websites, and for further info you can contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Where Have All The Volunteers Gone?

Hello Everyone. Well, the search for volunteers has worked about as well as my last rain dance. We still need someone to do the January's Full Moon Ritual and then there's next month's worship circles and Full Moon Ritual right around the corner. Those people who survived my last worship circle can attest to the need for more volunteers. I don't want to have revert to my alter ego, "Cowboy Ric", and then have to go round up a posse to track down more volunteers, but things are getting desperate here. So if anyone has a hankering (see it's started already) to run a worship circle or a ritual, "Come On Down" and let's "Get R Done".  Just contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
