Earth based religions are religions that include empirical proofs along with faith and beliefs. Rather than artistic icons, we use the symbolism of the world around us to represent our faith and understanding of spirituality.

THE MAIN PRECEPTS OF THE CHURCH OF THE EARTH OF NC

Provide a place for ritual and ceremony in which followers of Earth centered religions can gather for holy days, marriages, handfastings, coming of age celebrations, funerals, blessings, dedications, and other such events.

Provide support, understanding, and education to those of alternative beliefs and to the community in general.

Unite the community in times of need towards making our community and the entire planet a better place to live.

THE TENETS OF THE CHURCH:

Every Person's Religious Belief Is Correct, For Them.
Just as we expect others to respect our beliefs and opinions, we must respect theirs. We may not necessarily want to hear their opinions or dogma, but we do respect that is is the right path for them. All religions are interwoven in some way.

The Earth Is Our Mother, We Should Respect Her.
If we do not take care of the Earth, it will stop taking care of us and we will die. Simple things like conservation, and recycling are very simple ways to help keep the Earth habitable. By doing whatever we can as individuals, we can set examples and do our part towards saving the planet.

Old Ways Should Not Be Ignored.
By learning from the past we can set our own future. As we learn the truth about the past we learn more and more that there is usually a wisdom in the old ways. Combining the old ways with new knowledge gives us great insight into the world we live in. Learning from mistakes in the past can also help us avoid repeating them.

We are Accountable for our Actions.
This has been phrased many ways, from the Wiccan rede's, "And It Harm None, Do What You Will", to the rule of three, the concept of Karma, and even the more mainstream, "Treat Others As You Would Have Them Treat You". We interpret it to mean that you have freedom to do and believe anything you wish as long as it harms no one (including yourself).

LEGAL STANDING OF THE CHURCH:

The Church Of The Earth Of NC obtained legal registration and recognition as a church and a non-profit organization on both state and federal levels in 2000.
